With more U.S. states — and all of Canada — legalizing recreational and medicinal cannabis use, and the global cannabis market expected to reach 90.4 billion USD by 2026 (360iResearch), librarians and other information professionals have to use innovative methods and strategies for supporting cannabis-based businesses and entrepreneurs with their research needs.

This workshop will include two keynote presentations to provide an overview of the industry as well as implications for entrepreneurs, particularly those from marginalized and underserved communities. The first keynote will be a 30-minute "state of the market" talk by Dr. Michele Scott, Senior Analyst: Cannabis at Mintel. The second keynote will be a 30-minute conversation on social equity issues between Hilary Yu and Timeka Drew, co-creators of the nonprofit Our Academy. A panel of entrepreneurs and industry experts as well as short talks from librarians and information professionals will round out the workshop.

The Entrepreneurship & Libraries Conference is a service of BLINC: Business Librarianship in North Carolina, a section of the North Carolina Library Association.
