2017 CSLP Teen Video Challenge –Deadline to receive the entry is February 17, 2017

Teens from New Jersey are invited to participate in the 2017 Teen Video Challenge (2017 TVC). This national initiative, sponsored by the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), encourages teens to create videos that promote reading, public libraries, and the 2017 CSLP teen summer reading slogan, “Build a Better World.” The winning video from each state that participates will be named one of the CSLP 2017 Teen Videos to promote summer reading nationwide. The winning teen’s public library will receive a gift certificate for prizes worth at least $50 from Demco and receive a certificate that will acknowledge their accomplishment. The winners will be announced by CSLP in April 2017. Details on how to enter can be found on the NJ State Library’s summer reading webpage or on the CSLP website.

 

 

2017 Best Practices in Early Literacy Award – Deadline, Monday, February 20, 2017

The New Jersey State Library is accepting applications for the annual Best Practices in Early Literacy Award. The award honors up to four outstanding public libraries that currently provide exemplary literacy programs for children from birth to six years, their families and caregivers. The award provides a $1,000 honorarium, a certificate and promotion of the winning library as a model program for other libraries. The winning libraries will be honored during the State Librarian’s Breakfast at the NJLA Conference, April 26, 2017 at Harrah’s in Atlantic City.

Those who applied last year but did not win can re-apply with the same program as long as it was held within the past two years. Libraries who have won twice previously are not eligible to apply.
