Hi, Everyone,

I’ve been asked a number of times over the past several days where to get the solar eclipse glasses. If your library didn’t get any through Star_Net, (who has reported that they have distributed 2 million free eclipse glasses and 4,000 education kits to over 7,000 library locations (public libraries, state libraries, book mobiles, tribal libraries),  there are other places selling them,

while supplies last, including Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, 7-Eleven, ToysRUs, and Best-Buy. I don’t know if there are any left at any places near you, but I just wanted to share this with you.

Just be sure to purchase the certified ones with the ISO number 12312-2 on them.

If you can’t get any of the glasses, you can still host an Eclipse Watch Party and LIVE stream from NASA: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-live-stream

Pretty cool & safer on the eyes…

Here’s some resources with ideas if you want to do fun programming with families, even without the glasses. It’s a great way to connect to those in your community that may not

have used the library recently: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-who-what-where-when...

·         Here’s other resources from Star_Net to check out: http://www.starnetlibraries.org/2017eclipse/eclipse-resource-center/ (Just be patient because they’re getting a lot of traffic on their server and it may be slow)

·         Star_Net has additional activities here: STEM Activity Clearinghouse that includes tips on making pinhole viewing (and other fun activities, like Sun Cookies).

We libraries have so much more than glasses to offer.  J

Best regards,
