Teen Services Librarian, Part-Time
Piscataway Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated candidate to fill a part-time position in the Teen Services Department. The Library serves a culturally diverse population of 50,000+ in central New Jersey through the Kennedy and Westergard branches. We are looking for an energetic librarian who is committed to providing exceptional customer service and help with the daily operation of the Kennedy and Westergard Teen Spaces.
Hours:
Approximately 11 hours per week including, Monday 5:00-9:00pm, Tuesday 1:30-5:00pm, and Thursday 1:30-5:00pm.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- information and reference services
- collection development
- computer troubleshooting
- building relationships with teenagers at the Library
- other duties as assigned
The successful candidate will have a passion for working with young people in grades 6-12, a strong knowledge of current computer technology, and an ALA accredited MLS (or equivalent) and a NJ Public Librarian Certificate. Currently enrolled MLS students who have completed 9 credit hours will be considered.
Salary:
$31.80 per hour minimum for librarian with MLS and New Jersey certification;
$26.78 per hour for Library Intern with 9 credit hours completed
