FYI,

I’m sharing this free webinar opportunity:

You are invited to join a free webinar sponsored by ALA's Committee on Literacy and ALA's Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services (ODLOS).

Though not an exhaustive definition, we can think of food literacy, from the individual to the community level, as knowledge, skills, and behaviors that contribute to balanced diets and take into account structural factors such as access, security, and sustainability.

In this webinar, experts will speak on bringing food literacy to their communities, including addressing food insecurity, using food to teach other literacies, and establishing partnerships with local food banks.

Title: Food Literacy: Providing Access and Knowledge for Your Community

Hillary is the author of ALA Edition's Gather 'Round the Table: Food Literacy Programs, Resources, and Ideas for Libraries (ALA Editions 2020). She regularly consults with libraries and nonprofits on the topic of food literacy, presents at library workshops and conferences, and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Colorado Association of Libraries, the American Library Association, the Public Library Association, and the Horror Writers Association.
