Dear Colleagues,

I would like to invite you to participate in an online survey about crowdfunded comics in libraries. 

This voluntary online survey will focus on where comics fall within your library collections, how selectors choose which comics to acquire, whether selectors are able to purchase crowdfunded materials, what types of crowdfunded materials are purchased, and what barriers there are to purchasing crowdfunded and self-published works.

The survey is expected to take about 30 minutes to complete. While there is no expected direct benefit from participating in this study, resulting publications may be useful to those who work with comics in libraries for refining best practices in comics collecting.

Please note that while the researchers will attempt to preserve your confidentiality in any resulting presentations and publications, the survey is not anonymous and it may be possible for readers to deduce your identity based on your answers.

My name is Melina, I'm currently an MLS (Master of Library and Information Science) graduate student at the City University of New York in Queens College. I'm reaching out to ask whether anyone would be willing to participate in an online questionnaire survey for my research study on WEBTOON & public libraries. If you are also willing to help me disseminate the survey to other WEBTOON users through your connections, I would be really grateful for that as well. The purpose of this study is to learn about what Live WEBTOON readers enjoy about reading webcomics as a format and to assess whether this community's reading habits/experiences have any influence in how they interact with their local public libraries.

The survey will be completely anonymous and it will not ask for any direct identifiers that could reveal a person's identity. All of the data will be kept strictly confidential between myself and my mentor professor, Dr. Li. Respondents will not receive any direct benefits from answering the survey and it will not pose any foreseeable risks or discomforts from participation. If you (or any other respondent) are unwilling to continue participating at any point during the survey, you have the right to withdraw your consent without incurring any consequences.

The survey should take about 10 to 20 minutes to answer. Unfortunately, there are no direct benefits for responding to the survey. If this is something you would be willing to assist me with, I would truly appreciate it. But if not, that's okay too! Thank you for taking the time to read this long message.
