FYI,
The American Library in Paris is organizing the Young Authors Fiction Festival (YAFF). YAFF is an annual short story writing contest open to young writers who write in English and live in France. The contest is administered by library staff, with the support of over 100 volunteer judges. Last year we received 1018 story entries, with the participation of ninety schools and writing programs throughout France. We are looking for more judges to read and rate the stories this year, and we are especially interested in recruiting more teen librarians to judge for the festival. Several librarians across the US are already part of our extended community. If you'd like to be a judge, here are the requirements:
- Be available in April to dedicate some hours to the reading and judging of stories.
- Be willing to read around 25 short stories (2 to 3 pages long), depending on the number of submissions.
- You don't need to be an expert in writing as we will provide guidance on how to rate stories.
- Most importantly, enjoy reading!
