FYI,
Early Literacy and the Science of Reading: Brooklyn Public Library’s Early Childhood Symposium 2024
Brooklyn Public Library's Annual Early Childhood Symposium started last week and it is open to all! This year the theme of the virtual, four-session symposium is Early Literacy and the Science of Reading. Virtual sessions are scheduled for May 8 at 7:00 PM EST, May 15 at 4:30 PM EST, May 22 at 7:00 PM EST, and May 29 at 4:30 PM EST.
While it is geared to early childhood educators and we may touch on issues in NYC, it is open to everyone. New York State teachers can earn CTLE credit for attending. The Science of Reading research, which is driving changes to reading instruction and curriculum in elementary school, is also impacting early literacy and early learning and our work in libraries. Participants will delve deeply into this topic with educators and researchers from Bank Street College of Education, The Child Mind Institute, and more. Registration is required. While you're encouraged to attend live, all registrants will receive access to recordings to view at their convenience for a limited time after the live session. Please come and spread the word widely! Many thanks to Jessica Ralli for her work on organizing this amazing program!
