The Coretta Scott King Book Awards Round Table (CSKBART) is celebrating 54 years of award-winning authors and illustrators. In recognition of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Mrs. Coretta Scott King's courage and determination to continue her late husband's work for peace and world brotherhood, the CSKBART Program Standing Committee is proud to host a webinar featuring the 2023 John Steptoe New Talent award winner, Jas Hammonds and the 2023 John Steptoe Illustrator award winner, Janelle Washington. We Deserve Monuments by Jas Hammonds and Choosing Brave: How Mamie Till-Mobley and Emmett Till Helped Spark the Civil Rights Movement by Janelle Washington are published by Roaring Brook Press, a division of Macmillan Children's Publishing Group.
