Resumption of full ILL service

October 14th 2020

With delivery restarting next Monday, October 19, libraries can go back to using JerseyCat the usual way and request from New Jersey libraries. There will no longer be a need to use the out of state workaround.   I am including the text of LibraryLink’s announcement below. Please pay special attention to the second paragraph. If anything needs clarification please contact LibraryLink directly.   Please do not reply to this list.   Thanks. Casey Confoy JerseyCat – NJSL cconfoy@PROTECTED 609-278-2640  ...Continue Reading

lender list followup

September 25th 2020

It seems that some lenders codes (approximately a dozen) are being kicked out by the system. I am going to have to work through these one by one and see what the problem is. If you haven’t changed the lender list yet, please hold until later today. If you have already changed, that is no problem. There number of blocked lenders is basically inconsequential – you can move to the revised list at your leisure. FW: New and improved lender lists

September 25th 2020

JerseyCat  has new Preferred Lender lists. There are now 22 lists, one for each county with the exception of Bergen, which has two.   These lists are ordered by geographical proximity, type and size of potential lender (public, academic, school, and special), and lending history of these libraries.   Implementing the new lists will result in faster turnaround times and improved fill rates. Once JerseyCat is up and running at a somewhat normal rate, users will see a better, more efficient interlibraryloan ...Continue Reading

Delivery

September 9th 2020

I know many of you are anxious for ILL to resume (as am I) but it is dependent on resumption of delivery service. Delivery is contracted and handled by librarylinknj.org.  Please direct all your delivery questions to them.   I  have nothing to do with delivery and do not have any special insight into what librarylink is planning.   Thanks. Casey Confoy JerseyCat – NJSL cconfoy@PROTECTED 609-278-2640  x114 ...Continue Reading

ILL update and reminder

August 19th 2020

We have many new libraries added to this list, so I am reposting the latest on ILL service.   LibraryLink won’t be resuming deliveries until after Labor Day (with no firm date as of now), but limited ILL service is available from out of state libraries.  To access this option use the Blank Request form and fill out whatever bibliographic information you have for the desired item.  The lender list should say /njac,30/. If the list is blank, enter /njac,30. / Reminder: borrowing libraries must pay ret ...Continue Reading

Reopening procedures/suggestions

June 17th 2020

With curbside pickup libraries will be getting interlibrary loan items returned to them.   LibraryLink has not given any date for resuming deliveries, but sometime after Labor day is a fair guess.   So, if you have items to go back to other libraries, you can just hold on to them until delivery is back.   Alternatively, you can return items via media mail, if you have the resources to do so.   Out of state interlibrary loan items should be returned by mail, as always.   Thanks. National Emergency Library - update

March 31st 2020

Based upon information from Auto-Graphics, I requested that Casey Confoy notify JerseyCat libraries that they could have access to the internet archives’ materials. I have since learned from further reading that this open access is opposed by a number of groups, primarily the Authors Guild, as materials still under copyright are being made freely available. Please read the link below from NPR before deciding to post the internet archives’ link to your website.    https://www.npr.org/2020/03/30/823797545/autho ...Continue Reading
