On behalf of the I Love My Librarian Award selection committee, I am sharing the news that nominations for this award are open through November 9, 2020.

The I Love My Librarian Award recognizes the outstanding impact of U.S. public, school, and college/university librarians who have gone above and beyond for their communities. For the first time in the award’s history, the ten winners will be honored by their colleagues at a virtual award ceremony during ALA’s 2021 Midwinter Meeting; winners will receive complimentary conference registration in addition to a $5,000 cash prize.

We know that librarians across the country have been doing exceptional work during the pandemic, from hosting virtual programs and providing remote reference assistance to providing hunger relief and expanding internet access in underserved communities. This year’s I Love My Librarian Award is a unique opportunity to tell these stories on a national stage, showcasing the creativity, compassion, and dedication librarians have displayed in these difficult times.

Every year, we strive to ensure that the nomination pool reflects the diversity of librarians and the communities they serve. With that in mind, we hope you will help spread the word about the award in your local area. The electronic nomination form is available online at ilovelibraries.org/ilovemylibrarian. The I Love My Librarian website includes free tools for promoting the award, including social media copy, graphics, and a template press release.
