Hi, everyone --

Recently I partnered with Central Jersey Family Health Consortium to help promote the Ages and Stages Questionnaire 3 (ASQ-3), a developmental screening tool that gives families a quick look at how young children are doing in important areas such as communication, physical ability, social skills, and problem-solving skills.  CJFHC provides the ASQ-3 for free to families with children ages 0-5 who reside in its service area: Middlesex, Mercer, Hunterdon, and Somerset Counties.

Completing the assessment helps families identify children’s strengths as well as any areas where a child may need support.  It's important to identify children with developmental delays or behavior concerns as early as possible, so that they do not miss the opportunity for early treatment.  One of the best ways to catch these concerns is to screen all children, so that parents, caregivers, and pediatricians don’t overlook less obvious clues.

Allison Reinking, the Early Childhood Program Manager at CJFHC, and I put together this joint video to catch families in a familiar place -- library story time! -- which you are welcome to share with your communities.  Once families complete the assessment, they will be contacted by an Early Childhood Specialist from CJFHC to review the results and discuss recommendations for next steps.

For more info, you can also view this page on our library's website.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.  Hope you're all doing well!

Best,
Suzanne
