2022 Summer Reading Program Survey Open

Attention all public library staff who played an active role in administering 2022 summer library programming! Please fill out the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) summer reading survey. Click Here to Access the Survey.

This survey was created so CSLP can better assess the usefulness of the materials offered by the program on a national level to better serve you, the CSLP membership!

Please wait until your summer program has ended to complete the survey. 2022 LSTA Grant Opportunity

NJSL is allocating LSTA funds through a competitive grant program to address literacy needs including but not limited to early literacy, family literacy, adult literacy, digital literacy, and English language learning activities. NJSL estimates that $200,000 is available. All public libraries and library consortia are invited to apply. Learn more. This grant application will close at midnight on August 12, 2022.

 

NJSL Seeking Reviewers for Next Round of LSTA Grants

NJSL is allocating federal funding from the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) through a competitive grant program to address literacy needs. We are recruiting reviewers to read and score applications from public libraries and all library consortia organized as 501(c)(3) entities across the state. We want to gather reviewers who represent all our libraries, big and small, and from all regions. Please consider joining our team and helping decide on these awards. Click here to learn more.

The 2022 National Book Festival, Washington D.C.

The National Book Festival is being held in person on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022 at the convention center in Washington, D.C. Check out the complete schedule on the National Book Festival website: loc.gov/bookfest.

With more than 120 authors, writers and poets, this year’s festival has something for every reader. Plus, we’ve made it even easier to find the events that you’d most like to attend. Users can filter the schedule by location, stage and more than 30 interests. Maybe you know you would like to hear more from BIPOC authors, but you’re not sure where to start. Fear not: with a simple search you can see all BIPOC authors featured at this year’s festival.

And don’t forget that events on three of our festival stages will be livestreamed: Main Stage, Society & Culture and Young Adult. Festivalgoers can tune in for events featuring singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe, comedian Leslie Jordan, actor Nick Offerman, authors Linda Villarosa and Ed Yong, Jason Reynolds and many, many more!
