FYI,

~ Just passing this along in case anyone is interested.

Hello!

Have you used research to design public library programs or services for kids or teens? Have you worked with kids or teens to find out what they want from their public libraries? We want to hear your stories!

We are writing to tell you about a new book project and to see if you would be interested in contributing a chapter or if you have recommendations for others who might be interested.

We’re looking for public library professionals who work with kids ages 0-18 years.

The book will be an edited volume titled “Centering Kids and Teens in Public Library Programs and Services” to be published by Bloomsbury Libraries Unlimited and edited by us.

We invite authors to submit chapter proposals that fit into one of the following:

  1. Incorporating Kid- and Teen-Centered Research into Library Programs and Services: This section will feature contributions from public library professionals who have incorporated research with kids and teens into their professional practice. Contributors are asked to highlight the connections between relevant research findings and their professional practice.

  1. Eliciting Kids’ and Teens’ Perspectives on Library Programs and Services: This section will feature contributions from public library professionals who have sought out the perspectives of kids and teens in their local communities regarding their library’s programs and services. Contributors are asked to detail the process of eliciting young people’s perspectives as well as how they have subsequently incorporated these perspectives into their professional practice.

Final chapters will be 4,000 – 5,000 words including references.

Chapter Proposals: Please send a description of your proposed chapter (~200 words) that clearly indicates the age groups represented and the appropriate book section, a proposed chapter title, and brief biographies of each author (~50 words) to ...@uky.edu" style="font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: normal; padding: 0; margin: 0; text-align: left; line-height: 1.3; color: #2199e8; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"> sara...@uky.edu and ...@rutgers.edu" style="font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: normal; padding: 0; margin: 0; text-align: left; line-height: 1.3; color: #2199e8; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"> dago...@rutgers.edu by October 31, 2026.
