Julie Zamostny, Staff Development Coordinator at Western Maryland Regional Library has created a survey that will be used to generate content for an IGI Global publication titled, Librarian Professional Development: Collaborative Initiatives Between Academic and Public Libraries. She has asked State Librarian\x92s to forward her survey to relevant public and academic libraries in each state. Her letter of explanation, the survey and survey criteria are listed below.

Subject: Librarian Professional Development: A Survey

Dear Colleagues:

Have you ever wondered why there seem to be discrepancies among and between academic, public, and joint-use libraries in regards to professional development frameworks and requirements? Some have tenure, some have certification, some have nothing, and the criteria for meeting each framework differ even further.

In an effort to ferret out the similarities and differences in the professional development arena that exist among these three library types, I\x92ve created a brief 10 question survey.

Please consider taking the survey if you meet both of the following criteria:

1. You work at an academic, public, or joint-use library and,

2. You are a Dean, Director, Staff Development and/or Certification Coordinator, Tenure Review Committee Chair or are in an equivalent position.
