It\x92s time for Snapshot Day 2011! Co-sponsored by the New Jersey State Library, New Jersey Library Association and the New Jersey Association of School Librarians
We know that many of you participated in our previous Snapshot Days and we hope to have even more participation this time around. Stand up and be counted!
This time Snapshot Day will be held on April 13, 2011. Remember \x96 you can choose to participate ANY day between April 1 and April 30, 2011.
This year we will be part of a national effort. Snapshot Day was so successful that the American Library Association adopted it as a national model. 31 states across the country participated last year. We hope for record-breaking numbers in New Jersey so that we can add to the national statistics this year.
Library Snapshot Day is an event that provides library staff a simple means to show the value of the library by capturing what happens in a single day in all types of libraries, across the state. We want to top all the statistics from last year, so we are calling on ALL types of libraries to participate: large, small, school, academic, special, public - EVERYONE is urged to participate
We're taking a snapshot of a typical day in the life of New Jersey\x92s libraries. We have created a survey (a BRIEF survey!) to collect data. (How many times today did you help someone work on a resume? How many people did you help apply for a job online? How many story hours did you offer today - to how many attendees?) All the data will be collected online. We will collate all the information we receive and package it so that you will have powerful statistics available.
All the information you need is on our wiki: http://njla.pbworks.com/w/page/12189934/Snapshot
You\x92ll be able to print out the survey ahead of time so that you can see what kind of information we\x92d like you to capture. We\x92d also like you to take photos and there are instructions showing you how you can easily post your photos to flickr. The first Snapshot Day event collected more than 1,000 photos, and we\x92d like to top that.
Print out the "Snapshot Day Form" and keep it at all of your public service desks to make it easy to capture the day's activities.
Remember, you can pick ANY DAY to participate between April 1 and April 30, 2011. Please upload your statistics by May 6, 2011.
The more libraries we have participating, the more impressive our final statistics will be, so please spread the word and ask your colleagues to participate!
The Snapshot Day Committee is here to help you, so please contact us if you need any assistance.
