Sent on behalf of State Librarian Norma Blake:

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the agency that allocates Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds to every state, is giving the entire library field an opportunity to vote on priorities for their next strategic plan.

In New Jersey, LSTA funds are primarily used for the Talking Book and Braille Center, statewide databases, Jersey Connect technology infrastructure, JerseyCAT statewide catalog and interlibrary loan system and pilot projects at local libraries. These priorities are reflected in our current NJ LSTA five year plan.

If your time permits, please logon to http://imls.ideascale.com (you will need to register in order to vote on the priorities). Your votes for the following ideas will help support NJ's LSTA Plan:

Promote adequate /sustainable bandwidth for libraries Help all libraries make the transition to downloadable content Incubation funding for infrastructure and services projects State-Based LSTA Program: Address Unique Needs in Each State (such as New Jersey's statewide databases and interlibrary loan system)

Of course, you are welcome to vote on other ideas that you support as well.

Kathleen Moeller-Peiffer Associate State Librarian for Legislative Contacts, Grants and Special Projects
