New Jersey Public Library Directors:
In short\x85WE NEED YOUR HELP.
The Public Library Funding and Technology Access annual study, funded by the Gates Foundation and published by ALA, contains findings that in the past have helped the library community:
\x95 Advocate for the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) \x95 Support the e-rate program \x95 Become involved in the national (FCC) broadband plan
The study findings have also helped in the development of issue briefs at the national and state level on broadband, community access, e-government and employment.
As of October 14, the response rate for New Jersey public libraries was 7%. In order to include data from our state in the 2011-2012 report, and for state summaries to be developed, the response rate needs to be at least 60%.
For those of you who completed the survey last year, a new feature is available that will allow you to import your data as you go through the survey in order to make responding easier. There is also a new feature that allows libraries to indicate that the response they select is the same (at the question level) for all branches, should this apply.
PLEASE DON\x92T LET NEW JERSEY BE LEFT OUT OF THIS STUDY! If you received a postcard in September, or a reminder postcard in October, then your library has been selected to participate in this survey. Go to: http://www.plinternetsurvey.org, click on \x93take the survey\x94, input your library\x92s survey ID number that you received on the postcards, and \x93start survey\x94.
If you have any questions as you complete the survey there is a \x93contact us\x94 link on the portal that will send your questions via email to the survey creators at the Center for Library and Information Innovation at the University of Maryland.
Many thanks for your participation.
