News from IMLS
We are just the messenger but wanted to pass along a new federal opportunity from the U.S. Department of the Treasury that appears to offer construction/improvement funds for libraries and broadband infrastructure under the banner of pandemic response.
Treasury’s guidance for the Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund (CPF) program, established by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, is available here: https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/coronavirus/assistance-for-state-local-and-tribal-governments/capital-projects-fund.
The program provides $10 billion for eligible governments (State, territories, freely associated states and Tribes) to carry out critical capital projects that directly enable work, education, and health monitoring, including remote options, in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Recipients may subaward funds to municipalities or counties, non-profits, or private entities.
Among other areas, the scope includes broadband infrastructure projects and construction/improvements to library facilities that offer public-access internet (for work, education, and health) and digital literacy training. See “Multi-purpose community facility projects,” in particular.
