ULTS National Forum Recruitment

Help build community focused solutions to library work place trauma.

The Urban Library Trauma Study is looking for participants for its Forum in March. The Forum is the last stage of the research on the Urban Library Trauma Study where all of the research comes together. They are looking for solutions and action, and will be looking for like minded participants.

Forum participants should be working front line public library staff in cities of any size. Participants should be prepared to look at challenging data around trauma in urban public libraries including security issues. Everything is on the table and participants should be prepared to engage in design thinking in a multi-day forum based on principles and practices taken from social activist hacker culture.

The Forum will be in March of this year and will take place in Brooklyn NY. Travel, hotel, and food will be paid for. Participants will need to fully comply with all COVID Safety precautions and standards.

Forum participants must be willing to commit to:

  • Compliance with health and safety protocols as set by Forum Organizers
  • Working over three days in Brooklyn with a diverse group of library workers from every level of a wide variety of organizations
  • Producing realistic solutions to reduce and/or respond to trauma in the urban public library workplace
  • Reading, reviewing, and processing all pre-read material BEFORE arrival at the ULTS Forum
  • Engaging in a broad, creative, fast paced exchange of information and ideas as part of project teams, large group, and individual problem solving in the space of the forum
  • Adherence to Urban Librarians Unite’s anti-harassment policy
