Here is a fun idea:
Decorate the library like the arena from The Hunger
Games, and have a series of questions (that the librarians have gathered from
survival guides and other training books) that the "tributes" can
answer. If there are a lot of tributes, the librarians could even divide
them into "districts" and let them compete as a team. If not,
each tribute could play as an individual.
Examples of questions can be found at the Scholastic
Hunger Games website.

A co-worker, Doreen, suggested a game: remember the part
in the book
where the kid stays to protect the food the rich kids
have stocked up
on? Have the "food/supplies" in the middle or
end of a room and have the
kids race to get one of the items and back to their
designated spot.
Whomever gets back last is eliminated.

How about camo face painting? Depending on time
teams could work as
game masters to
design an arena (maybe diorama style). What about
something on
wilderness survival
and/or edible plants? I know I kept thinking that
there was no way I
would be able
to find food! You could maybe use info from The
Worst Case Survival
Handbook or
contact a scout leader.
If you subscribe to YALSA-BK there was a recent thread

Have fun!
