Hey Sharon,
It's Jamey Feuer from Edgewater. I'm sorry to bother you, but I was ill... then went on vacation, then we had the snowstorm of the century, and have been juggling school... all at once. In the interim, I found myself unable to register for the Summer Reading Programs. I wanted to register yesterday but I had my "Read Across America" program at the local Elementary School. And, naturally, I find the programs are ALL closed as of today. I was hoping that, perhaps, you might be able to squeeze me into the Teen Workshop on 3/22 at Old Bridge (Monday, March 22, 2010 [10:00AM - 3:30PM]). I have always found the Summer Reading Programs to be helpful, especially the inter-library dialogues that inevitably ensue. I have been the Head of Youth Services for 8 years now, but I still struggle to draw a YA population because there is no local YA population to pull from. Thus, I am forced to pull magic from my Yankee cap and devise outside the box programming that will drive the YA pop' to come. Please Sharon, if it's at all possible, can you squeeze one more individual into that workshop? (I'm actually quite lean and take up perhaps 6 square feet : ) )
Many thanks and I hope this finds you well!
Most respectfully,
Jamey

Please excuse any cross-postings.
Hi Everyone,
Public libraries are starting to receive their summer reading incentives from Upstart. I ordered a children's banner, a children's poster, a teen poster (if your library wanted it),
1 package of teen bookmarks and 2 packages of children's bookmarks for each library.
Many libraries have contacted me to say that instead of receiving 2 packages of children's bookmarks, their invoice says they are backordered to get 2 packages of flip flop necklaces.
I am aware of this problem and have made Upstart aware of it as well. We are working to resolve it.
Please don't contact me or Upstart about this issue. I will work with them to correct it and let you know the outcome.
Best,
Sharon Rawlins
