I have a patron who remembers reading a series of books with animal characters when he was 8-10 years old.\xA0 He believes the books would have been published around the 1950s.\xA0 The books contained illustrations, although he cannot remember whether they were color or b/w.\xA0The books were not picture books but more like beginning readers.\xA0 The animals behaved as animals except they could talk and do people-like activities.\xA0 He is certain they did not wear clothing.\xA0 When I showed him books by Robert Lawson, he said I was close but still did not get it exactly.\xA0 Another clue is when a new animal character was introduced, the next book had that animal as the main character.\xA0\xA0The animal he remembers most is a woodchuck.\xA0 I thought maybe it was the series by Marion Holt\xA0 (Willie Woodchuck #11)but the animals do wear clothing.
