As Professionals we should keep it at a higher level and not lower to the school yard name calling.

To whom it may concern,

The 666 references are unneccessary. Let's continue to focus on positive solutions to the budget issue and refrain from name-calling.

Susan et al:

YUP!!! Already sent it all forth to my town's FOL folks. Want to make it a real go. Super duper PR!!!

Need to make everyone gets up and remind 666-tie that he is the anti-Governor of New Jersey rather than an actual leader.

This activity will get the general public involved and informing all besides the Teachers, Fire, Police, and the Lye-berr-eeahnz, that he is up to NO GOOD. Hence my 666 reference!!!

Joe

Susan, all advocacy suggestions are certainly up for consideration and this is an interesting one. You are so right, it is the public that we must keep involved. The NJLA Public Policy Committee is currently reviewing what should be our next activity. There are several ideas and we will keep you posted. Let me know if you have any questions. Pat Tumulty

I know that many patrons and FOL members would like to do something more active, above and beyond the postcard and email initiatives. What about a weeklong campaign when people would go to their libraries and check out the item or items that they would miss the most if the library wasn't there? The newspapers could interview people leaving with (hopefully) armfuls of books and movies, and show our empty shelves at the end of the week. This would be from the public, not the librarians, so hopefully have a more personal, grassroots impact than anything more we could do ourselves. It is, after all, the impact on the public's lives that will make a difference to legislators. Since our public wants to help, seems like we should give them more options as time gets tight.

Sincerely, Susan Grotyohann Monroe Township Library 4 Municipal Plaza Monroe Township, NJ 08844
