Hi, Fran!

I've been doing PR programs since the second season of the show...  I use all dollar store items, starting with one plastic tablecloth per student which is their main fabric.  Plastic is great because it can be stapled or taped or safety pinned together (no sewing necessary!).  Then I buy all sorts of crazy things for them to use as adornments/accessories: shower caps, ribbon, colored electrical tape, kitchen sponges, etc.  Raiding your craft closet as Christen mentioned is a great idea too.  When the kids arrive for the program, I have them pair up and they design for each other.  They MAY NOT remove any clothing and must design OVER their existing clothes.  : )  Sometimes we do a theme (famous pairs, superheroes, prom night, figures from literature), other times we just let them go nuts and do what they want.  I even had a grab-bag PR one time where I put a plastic table cloth and a bunch of stuff into each bag (each student got a bag) and they had to use EVERYTHING in the bag.  It was fun and challenging and a great way to clean out my craft cabinet.  : )
At the end, we have a fashion show and the participants vote for each other -- winners can get prizes or some kind of ribbon or award (you can sometimes find these at the dollar store too!).

If you need more info, let me know.
Kimberly

Subject: [njyac] Project Runway

Hey,  collective brain -

Looking to do a Project Runway Event w/my teens; however, i've never even seen the show and have no clue how to proceed.  I do know I'll need a bunch of stuff from a dollar type store and that when done, would be cool to invite family/friends to a "fashion show".  But that's it so I am pleading for HELP!!!!!

Thanks, all - you rock!!!
