FYI,

Here’s some news from YALSA that may be of interest to teen librarians:

Apply by June 1st for a Teen Read Week Grant!

Ten $1,000 grants will be distributed to libraries to support their literacy focused TRW activities.  For details or to access the application, visit http://teenreadweek.ning.com/page/grants.  Teen Read Week will be celebrated Oct. 18 – 24 with the theme “Get Away @ your library.”  Visit www.ala.org/teenread for all your TRW planning needs!

Would You Like Some Free Books?

From now through May 1st YALSA is accepting applications from libraries in need who would like to receive a set of 2015 Teens’ Top Ten nominees.  For details or to access the application, visit http://teenreadweek.ning.com/page/grants.  The nominees will be posted online during National Library Week at www.ala.org/yalsa/teenstopten.  A free toolkit to help library staff incorporate the Teens’ Top Ten into their summer reading/learning programs is also available from that site.

Apply for Funds to Attend the YA Services Symposium

Between now and June 15th, apply for $1,000 to defray the cost of travel to YALSA’s symposium, which will be held Nov. 6 – 8, 2015, in Portland, OR.  Learn more and view the preliminary program at www.ala.org/yalsa/yasymposium
