Children’s Services Librarian (Part-Time)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated candidate to fill a part-time Children’s Services Librarian position. Under the supervision of the Head of Children’s Services, the Children’s Services Librarian will work with the Children’s Services staff to manage our dynamic children’s spaces .

Piscataway Township is located in Middlesex County, across the river from the Rutgers University New Brunswick campus, and near the center of Einstein’s Alley - central New Jersey’s research and technology corridor. Boasting a richly diverse population of over 58,000, Piscataway is the home of several large corporate residents, including Johnson & Johnson, Colgate-Palmolive, and IEEE. Responsibilities:

• Information and reference services

• Assisting with children’s programming

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

An ALA accredited MLS (or equivalent) and NJ Public Librarian Certificate are preferred. Consideration will be given to currently enrolled MLS students who have completed 9 credit hours.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for working with young people from birth through 5th grade, exceptional customer service, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.

Schedule:

Part-time; approximately four evening hours per week plus one Saturday per month (9:45 AM - 5:15 PM). Opportunity for additional hours on a substitute basis.

Compensation:

$31.80 per hour for librarian with MLS and New Jersey certification
$26.78 per hour for Library Information Assistant with 9 credit hours completed
