FYI,

From an author & MLIS grad student who’s offering free virtual author visits:

Hello Everyone!

As everyone is preparing for the new virtual school year, I just wanted to let you all know that I am currently booking FREE virtual author visits for this Fall 2020.

More information at:  www.auntkatiesplace.com/virtualvisit

The visit is entirely FREE (did I say free already? free, Free, FREE!) and I provide an interactive Zoom presentation for children ages pre-k through 7th grade and a link to a downloadable (and also free) 18-page activity sheet.

Visits are based off my children's picture book:  "Gracie: A bilingual adventure in the Blue Ridge Mountains". You will also receive a free copy for your library upon completion of the visit! And if any patrons/students buy the book you'll receive 10% of the proceeds back for your library.

Visits usually range around 1 hour, and we can use either your library Zoom account, or my Zoom account which allows unlimited length of meetings for up to 300 participants. During the visit I talk about why I chose to make my book bilingual, give a live reading of the book, take a behind-the-scenes look at the original storyboard, and give a sneak peak of the next book.

If you are interested in booking a fun (and, again, free!) visit for your public or school library, please check out the link and email me to reserve your spot! I will also do this for individual classrooms or grade levels as well.    Free Virtual Author Visit - Aunt Katie's Place

You can check out my Facebook page to see a few reviews from previous librarians that have had me virtually visit their library. www.facebook.com/auntkatiesplace

Here is a sample of one: "We had a fun time with Aunt Katie, reading from her wonderful book and explaining how the beautiful illustrations came along. Her interactions with the kids were great, the kids loved to find all the plants. Thanks Aunt Katie!" by Gisi Vella from The Morton Memorial Library at Pine Hill in New York.

A little bit about myself:

I am an MLIS graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with my concentration in school library. I published my first children's picture book in December 2019 in three different bilingual versions.

"Gracie: A bilingual adventure in the Blue Ridge Mountains" by Kathryn Leslie and illustrated by Anita Morra.

"Gracie" comes in Spanish/English, French/English, and German/English. It is written in a manner that helps children (and adults) start learning and understanding a foreign language. The Spanish/English version has been awarded a Story Monsters Approved! Excellence in Literature Award as well as  two Purple Dragonfly Honorable Mention Awards and a NABE Pinnacle Award for Best Bilingual Children's Book.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! You can check me out at www.auntkatiesplace.com and again, the virtual visit information is at www.auntkatiesplace.com/virtualvisit

I look forward to meeting you all and potentially being a part of your virtual Fall programs!

Sincerely,

Kathryn Leslie (aka Aunt Katie)
