The National Summer Learning Association is offering a series of four webinars to help library staff with the pivots that will be necessary in summer 2021.  The first of these will feature Dr. Matthew Boulay, Founder of National Summer Learning Association and author of many books including the 2020 release:  How to Keep Kids Learning When Schools Are Closed.  He will be followed by Amy Twito, Informal Learning Manager at Seattle Public Library who will discuss the equity work SPL is leading and how they are completely overhauling their Summer Learning Program to share power with a BIPOC community organization. Finally, an update from Scholastic Publishing with a book raffle for a participant.

These conversations are small so we can chat and share ideas and problem solve.  Please register today as space is limited!

Please join on December 8th at 2pm ET for the first 75-minute conversation of four based on building equity in summer learning.

Speakers include:

  • Aaron Dworkin, NSLA President and CEO
  • Dr. Matthew Boulay, Founder of the National Summer Learning Association and 2020 author of When Schools Are Closed;
  • Amy Twito of the Seattle Public Library to discuss SPL's equity-based Summer of Learning Program in development for 2021 based on sharing power with BIPOC communities
  • Dorothy Weintraub and Morgan Ford, Scholastic Publishing for updates on summer offerings to libraries.  A full description from NSLA is attached.

Future conversations will build on the theme of equity, trauma informed practice and librarian well-being, STEM and 21st Century skills.
