Head of Youth Services, Matawan Aberdeen Public Library

The Matawan Aberdeen Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, tech-savvy, customer service-oriented librarian to lead our friendly Youth Services team.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and teens and experience with these age groups, as well as knowledge of children’s/YA literature and resources.

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following as they apply to children, teens, their caregivers and teachers:

• Reference and readers’ advisory service.
• Collection development.
• Maintenance and ongoing evaluation of electronic resources.
• Programming.
• Outreach to schools and youth-serving community groups.
• Direction/supervision/scheduling/evaluation of part-time youth services staff members and teen volunteers.

Requirements:

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.
• Demonstrated experience with youth in a library setting.
• Interest in emerging technologies and familiarity with current trends in public library service to young people.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Supervisory skills preferred.
• Available to work 35hrs/week (including 1 night/week and weekends as needed).
