Friends,

On Wednesday, February 22 at 10:00 am, the Shared Youth Vision Council of the New Jersey State Employment and Training Commission will be presenting a webinar on Youth Homelessness and Employment. We have worked with several stakeholders to develop this webinar designed to assist education personnel that work with homeless youth under the McKinney-Vento Law. In meeting with the regional leads of these programs, they shared that a weakness in their efforts to assist homeless youth and their families is the lack of a strong linkage to workforce opportunity.

This effort will focus on Central New Jersey and look to introduce teachers, guidance counselors, other relevant personnel, and young people to the opportunities available under workforce development.

The webinar will be an hour and a half with an array of speakers that include homelessness experts, workforce development and young people representing Monarch Housing, the New Jersey Department of Education, and the Workforce Development Board of Middlesex County.

It is our hope that because of this webinar stronger and practical linkages are developed between the stakeholders.
