I am the editor in chief of Ig Publishing (www.igpub.com). Ig is a New York-based award-winning independent press dedicated to publishing original literary fiction and political nonfiction. Our IgKids imprint publishes a carefully curated list of children's picture books and middle grade titles.
In May, we are publishing an illustrated middle grade book for kids ages 9-13, Handbook for Young Anti-Racists, by Tinashe Williamson. Tinashe was born in Egypt and raised in Norway. She is a socially committed actress, model and activist. Her fight for justice and equal rights for all inspired her to write Handbook for Young Anti-Racists.
We are currently putting together a tour in May/June for Tinashe to coincide with the book's release in the US. Because of her background, she offers a very unique perspective on racism and what it means to be an anti-racist.
Here is a description of the book:
What is racism? Why are diversity and representation so important? And what can you do if you or someone you know experiences discrimination because of the color of their skin? This powerful handbook gives you answers to all this and much more so that you can learn how to become an active anti-racist!
Told from the point of view of several preteen characters, Handbook for Young Anti-Racists explains what racism is, why representation and diversity are important and what kids can do if they or someone they know is discriminated against because of the color of their skin or where they are from.
Here is a more detailed description of the book, which is aimed at a 4th-8th grade audience:

In addition, here is an electronic galley copy of the book:
It would be great if you could share this with other youth services librarians across the state.
