A few changes to the 2008 data survey have been proposed. Since we no longer need the detailed information regarding COMMUNITY sponsored programming, all of the questions relating to that information in Part VII, LIBRARY SERVICES, (Lines 7.56-7.63) should be removed from the 2008 data survey. One question should be added to replace the community-sponsored programming data: Approximately how many people used the meeting room/s (or main library) for non-library sponsored meetings and events including tutoring, meetings, programs etc.? This question will provide data useful to legislators regarding how much the library is used by the community as a community center.

Please note that the Institute of Museum and Library Services still requires us to collect information on LIBRARY-sponsored programming broken down by children and adult, so Lines 7.50-7.54 will remain in the survey.

In Part II, LIBRARY OPERATING EXPENDITURES, there should be one new question (2.17): What was the amount spent on materials in languages other than English (all formats)? Line 2.18 will provide the automatic calculation (2.17 divided by 2.16) showing the percentage of the materials budget spent on non-English language materials.
