First I am writing to let you know that I am on the YALSA Regional Advisory Board committee and will be representing states in our NE region. I will be sending out information, opportunities and updates that may be helpful in connecting YALSA and you! Please, in advance, forgive any cross-postings, please feel free to send me professional info you would like me to share with your colleagues, and please let me know too if you have anything you want communicated back to YALSA. Thanks, Susan Conlon

Here’s a posting on a grant opportunity sponsored by B&T for librarians attending their first ALA conference for July 2009 in Chicago:

Win a free trip to Chicago to attend ALA's Annual Conference!

If you are a YALSA member and have never attended an annual conference of the American Library Association, then you are eligible to apply for YALSA's Baker & Taylor conference grant. Two grants of $1,000 each are awarded to librarians who work directly with young adults in a public or school library to enable them to attend the Annual Conference for the first time.  Not a member of YALSA? It's not too late to join. Just fill out and mail in the application before December 1st, 2008 to qualify.  Go to www.ala.org/yalsa and click on the "Awards & Grants" tab in the left menu.  If you have any questions, contact Geri Diorio at ...@ridgefieldlibrary.org mailto:GADi...@ridgefieldlibrary.org" target="_blank" href="mailto:GADi...@ridgefieldlibrary.org">GADi...@ridgefieldlibrary.org.

The 2009 conference will take place July 9-15 in Chicago.  YALSA will have many programs, meetings, and events that you won't want to miss. Visit http://wikis.ala.org/yalsa/index.php/YALSA_at_the_2009_ALA_Annual_Conference to see details about the events and programs YALSA is offering at the 2009 Annual Conference. For more than 50 years, YALSA has been the world leader in selecting books, videos, and audio books for teens.  The conference is also an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues and potential employers.
