Ideas for National Library Week from the NJLA PR Committee
National Library Week 2009 will be celebrated with the theme, "Worlds connect @ your library."New York Times best selling author and actress Jaime Lee Curtis is the Honorary Chair of National Library Week 2009 (April 12-18).
To publicize this event, the NJLA Public Relations Committee recommends using ALA's templates for press releases and letters to the editor to get some stories in your local newspaper.
It's really quick and easy , all you have to do is add your library's name, address and phone number in the blanks then fax, email, or send to your local newspaper. They even have a spot where you can add information about any programs you are hosting! Here's the direct link:

The committee also encourages libraries to invite guest speakers from the community to read during story times. Many libraries already do this however during these tough economic times the focus on community outreach wouldn't hurt. This simple PR Committee suggestion also makes for great photo ops. Good luck!
