Hello Everyone!

I have been meaning to write about a performer we have used for the past two summer programs. His name is John Miller and he owns and operates Pearl Observatory: A Travelling Science Educaton Company which focuses on dinosaurs and space.

About John - he is great. He is low key with a dry sense of humor and very good with groups of kids.

About his programs - last year he brought his Starlab here. It's an inflatable planetarium and the kids (and parents too!) enjoyed crawling into the structure to learn about the solar system. This year he brought Little Al - his Allosaurus skeleton which is handmade by John. As he talks to the kids about dinosaurs, he passes around fossils for them to see and/or touch. They love this but the best part is when they get to build Little Al. Afterwards, he gathers the kids together in front of the dinosaur for a picture perfect opportunity for parents and library PR.

About the cost - John's programs are very reasonable for the entertainment and excitment they provide. He did back-to-back programs and the cost was $295 for the first program and $110 for the second show for a total of $405...well worth the cost! There are some restrictions as to the amount of kids in certain programs but he will answer any question that you have about that.

Overall, this was a great investment for our summer programming...the smiles told us so!
