The Public Library Survey for DY2009 is now open and can be accessed at http://collect.btol.com/. (This is a different URL from previous years). Login information is the same as previous year. In case you do not have the login information, please request it and I will send it to you. All instructions are included in the survey and for easier access to instructions while in the survey, you may click on the number of the question. The definitions for data elements are also provided by IMLS at http://harvester.census.gov/imls/pdf/PLS_Defs_FY2009.pdf

Please note that the survey website has been revised and Jan Anderson from Baker and Taylor (Bibliostat) will be hosting free webinars on Bibliostat Collect, the internet application to collect data for Public Library Survey / Per Capita State Aid Form. He will demonstrate: 1. How to use the Bibliostat Collect to submit the annual survey 2. Its new and revised features

Important survey related due dates : 1. March 15th for 2009 NJSL 11APP (Per Capita State Aid application) 2. April 2nd for 2009 Accuracy Certification 3. April 2nd for the Completed Survey (earlier submission will be appreciated).

Please note that this survey has three purposes: \x95To determine whether or not the library meets all Per Capita State Aid requirements (see N.J.A.C. 15:21 \x95To collect information for the Institute of Museum and Library Services national annual survey (items collected by IMLS are marked with an asterisk in the survey). \x95To provide statistical information that helps legislators understand the importance of libraries, enables the State Library and NJLA to track needed data regarding policy concerns, provides library directors with information they need to better administer their libraries, provides the general public with public library statistics.
