Date: March 22nd 2010

Hi Sally – Sharon Rawlins announced at the Summer workshops that the State Library has said that they will be collecting all summer statistics through Evanced solutions.  It doesn’t mean they you can’t use paper reading logs – or any other method you want in your library.  It DOES mean that you will need to use Evanced Solutions to get your statistics to the State Library.  (In the past you filled out a form on Survey Monkey.)

Sharon is suggesting that it will be easier if libraries use Evanced Solutions throughout the summer rather than trying to add everything at the end – but that as long as the stats are there at the end of the summer, that’s all they care about.

Any public library in New Jersey can register with Evanced without cost to the library, since the State Library has already purchased a statewide contract with them.

Sharon has sent out various emails already and will be sending out more.  There is a program planned at the NJLA conference and Sharon is working on setting up some additional state specific training done by Evanced for sometime this spring.

I hope this helps a little!

Subject: [njyac] enhanced solutions

Two of my staffers came back from the NJLA workshop talking about enchanced solutions to keep records for SRC. They had the impresion that this would be the ONLY way NJLA was jeeping stats. I looked through the manual and did not see it.  Though I have already ordered my logs, I wonder, is this something we should all know about?

Garden State Book Awards Luncheon

The Garden State Children's Book Award Committee hopes that everyone going to NJLA on Wednesday, April 28th will attend the Garden State Book Awards Luncheon.

The luncheon speaker will be the wonderful Rachel Vail.  Here is the description from the NJLA program:

Garden State Book Awards Luncheon: Speaker Rachel Vail

Celebrate with this year's award winners while listening to the author of the young adult series the Avery Sisters Trilogy. She has also authored Sometimes I'm Bombaloo, Righty and Lefty and Over the Moon.
