FYI,

Sharon Rawlins, Youth Services Consultant, NJ State Library

The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), will launch a new blog this fall focusing on young adult literature, with our own NJ librarian Sarah Debraski (2008-2009 YALSA president) at the helm. In addition, YALSA is currently accepting nominations for the new blog\x92s name through June 30.

\x93It makes sense for YALSA to have a literature focused blog, and I\x92m thrilled to be a part of its launch. I love young adult literature and I love blogging, so the opportunity to manage this new blog is an adventure I can\x92t wait to begin,\x94 Debraski said. \x93I look forward to working with YALSA\x92s creative, smart members to make the new blog into the go-to place for YA librarians seeking a place to find out about, discuss and promote young adult literature.\x94

In addition to in-depth discussion of young adult literature, the new blog will feature teen perspectives and multimedia. Debraski begins her term in July 2010 and will work with an advisory board to develop the new blog.

Now through June 30, YALSA is accepting nominations for the blog\x92s title. From the submissions, YALSA will choose five finalists in early July. Voting for the title will take place July 6 to Aug. 1. Anyone \x97 including librarians, teens or YA lit fans \x97 can submit a blog title suggestion online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=m1ODONyRNxY2P2Do8%2fyU5xwC9N%2bQ7D8wgi65lWprvJg%3d&.

The person who submits the winning blog title will win a box of books and other goodies from YALSA.
