Hi Everyone,
I often get e-mails from authors asking if I will pass along information about their books. I do so with the author’s knowledge that I am only passing it along as an FYI. The State Library in no way endorses these publications.
Best,

Ishigaq: The Quest Home by Andy Sibbald
The author says :
I would like you to consider this book of fiction for your library service. It is for 11-14 year olds but as you can see from the reviews may entertain a broader audience. It is filled with adventure, lessons about life and information about living in the north. In an indirect way it also educates children about potential impacts of global warming on the north and the people there. The book will be launched at the Vancouver Regional Island Library in Nanaimo, BC Canada on October 23, 2010 and has a retail cost of $11.95 in Canadian currency. I can send more information if that would be helpful. Thank you.
Praise for The Quest Home
“From travelling through ice fogs and the true meaning of an inukshut
to sipping hot lichen tea and fending off a wolverine attack, Ishigaq—
The Quest for Home offers a fascinating look inside the myths of one
of Canada’s lesser-known indigenous cultures, as well as some valuable
life lessons for young readers. My seven-year-old is an advanced reader;
I know she’ll be engaged by this book.”
– John Threlfall, Monday Magazine
“This is a great and magical adventure, packed with Arctic wisdom. I
look forward to reading it to my daughter.”
– Lee Herrin, The Fernwood Vibe
“This book will make an excellent addition to our Aboriginal legends
and stories!”
– Toni McKilligan, Houston Public Library
“The pictures look fantastic.”
– Heather Finlayson, Yellowknife Public Library
“The artwork is fabulous.”
– Karin von Wittgenstein, Kimberley Public Library
Sincerely,
Andy Sibbald
