When I was at Elizabeth Public Library, a very capable Library Associate took over all YA programming during my maternity leave (although we did keep things pretty bare bones during that time, he ran the book discussion group, the anime club, an author program and the holiday party).  After I returned, he continued to run the monthly anime club and did two series of workshops: a graphic novel/manga discussion group and Art 101 -- a weekly drawing workshop last summer.  Initially, I provided a step-by-step breakdown of each program -- a map, if you will -- but after he became more comfortable, he had more license to get creative.  It worked well for our purposes and the LA had a good rapport with the teens; I think that's the most crucial ingredient.
