The New Jersey State Library (NJSL) has begun the implementation of the training portion of the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program (BTOP) grant received in July 2010. All libraries in New Jersey will be able to participate in training coordinated by the New Jersey Council of County Colleges\x92 Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development (The Consortium). Training will include professional development sessions for library staff and job readiness computer training courses for library patrons.

The professional development sessions for library staff will cover the following topics: \x95 Conducting an online job search \x95 Making use of the NJ Department of Labor\x92s Real Time Jobs on Demand \x95 Locating other relevant commercial job web sites \x95 Identifying the most popular job search web sites, such as CareerOneStop.org and Monster.com \x95 Learning the key elements in an online job application

Professional development sessions have already been scheduled in Bergen, Mercer, Sussex, Passaic, Cape May, and Burlington counties!
