Hi All,
David Engel, a.k.a Bill Bones, the good pirate, has agreed to come to The Clifton Public Library on Wednesday, August 10th at 6:30 PM for “Pirate School’s Classic Family Fun Show.” I saw him perform last Friday at the RCLS Performer’s Showcase, and he engages the kids and the parents with music, magic, bubble play, puppetry and fun. (Some librarians brought their children). He will do his show for $300 if I can secure 2 other libraries for the same day.
SEE below and his web site www.mypirateschool.com for more information.

One World, Many Songs!
Multiple national award-winning singer-songwriter Patricia Shih presents "One World, Many Songs!" at libraries across the US. Every one of the songs in her concert involves the audience's participation by singing, dancing, playing games and, of course, loving BOOKS! One of Patricia's signatures and goals is breaking down barriers between people no matter what age or background, helping everyone feel a part of community. The summer reading club theme of "one world" makes for a perfect fit!
Come to the library to join in the fun and help make one world through many songs.

Pirate School: Voyages Around The World! Is a madcap, one-man swashbuckling variety show that teaches youngsters how to be "good pirates" while empowering and boosting their self-esteem. This non-violent comic romp, featured in New York Magazines "BEST OF NY:KIDS!", has delighted family audiences for over 15 years with magic, music, bubble-play, puppetry and full-audience participatory fun. Here's what some recent colleagues had to say about Pirate School!
“Librarians know that one of the signs of a great program is when a child runs to the reference desk afterwards to tell you about how ‘awesome’ it was. After Mr. Engel’s Pirate School, we had a line of children who could not stop talking (and “aargh-ing”) with completely unbridled enthusiasm. If you want children and parents to go home remembering how much fun the library can be, then you should definitely add David Engel to your list of performers. The only ones who laughed harder than I did were the children…and their excitement could be heard all the way across the children’s room. He’s too much fun to miss.”
Melissa Gabrielle, Children's Librarian, West Babylon Public Library 631-669-5445
"With his perfect mix of smart humor and silly sight gags, Engel gets the kids completely engaged and lit up for the entire show. He incorporates themes of reading and literacy without being heavy-handed, and he has the ability to improvise, adjusting his shows to the age level and understanding of the kids in the audience. Engel is one of the few performers you will want to book over and over again. He has so many characters that he never has to do the same show twice, but if he did, you would be thrilled to see it again! "
Cheryl Baker, Children's Librarian, Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library 845-786-3800
"I can’t thank you enough for such a fantastic show. Preschool age children are typically stir crazy after 30 minutes yet you held their attention, engaged them and kept them wanting more for a full hour. Three hearty pirate cheers for Billy Bones, for entertaining and energizing our visitors both young and old."
