A most fitting way to toast this past decade of the imaginative and innovative dimension that the New Jersey Center for the Book has brought to the literary landscape of New Jersey

Walter Dean Myers to be awarded the Rutgers University School of Communication and Information Award for Literature for Children and Young Adults

Description: Description: myersWalter Dean Myers, prominent New Jersey author and "one of the most important writers of children's books of our age", to quote Kirkus Reviews, will be the recipient of the NJCFTB Rutgers Award at the tenth anniversary celebration of the founding of the NJCFTB scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 2:30-4:30 pm in the Rutgers University Zimmerli Art Museum on the New Brunswick campus.

Jorge Schement, Dean of the Rutgers School of Communication and Information and Gus Friedrich, Dean Emeritus and a member of the NJCFTB Board, will conduct the ceremony together with Renee Swartz, Center Chair.

The event is free and open to the public.
