Date: April 15th 2011

The New Jersey State Library has been selected to administer a grant to New Jersey public libraries using funds from the 2008 "State of New Jersey vs. Salton, Inc." anti-trust settlement grant program.

The terms of the settlement require that each library purchase books or other durable materials relating to healthy eating and promoting health/a healthy lifestyle. This program is being run on a per-capita basis...should all public libraries elect to participate the grant amount will range from under $50 to over $15,000. If there are libraries that elect not to participate, the amount of funding designated for them will be re-allocated among the remaining participating libraries.

The requirements for the grant are:

*that you respond by the designated date of May 2, 2011
*that you sign a Memorandum of Understanding indicating that you will expend the funds in alignment with the settlement terms
*that you provide a report, not to exceed one page in length, to the State Library by November 30, 2011 describing how the funds were expended and the benefits to your community as a result of the grant

This email is being sent to all NJ public library directors to determine if you wish your library to be a recipient of these funds. Please go to the following link: http://doodle.com/b8f4cb6gu433sr3x, input your library's name and click on the radio button under the date of May 2, which will indicate your library's intent to participate.

The State Library looks forward to hearing from all of you by our May 2, 2011 deadline. For questions, please mail Kathleen Peiffer at kpeiffer@PROTECTED, or call (609) 278-2640 ext. 152.
