There is a Cat Heaven by Cynthia Rylant.
Dog Heaven by Cynthia Rylant is good if it happens to have been a dog. Fiction but good.

Subject: [njyac] Collection Development help - sudden death of a pet materials
Hi my fellow smartypants librarians,
Does anyone have suggestions on good books dealing with the topic of sudden death of a pet, for kids? I had a patron come in searching for something, and most of the materials we have, or other libraries have, deal with old age death...she was looking more for a sudden, unexpected thing.
We have materials on sudden death of people, for children, but the patron was afraid the child would get more upset and start envisioning death of his parents, etc.
I'm searching on Amazon and Baker and Taylor at the moment, but if anyone has any suggestions - whether it's adult nonfiction books on how to explain it to a child, or juv. fiction books, etc. - it would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance,
Chrissy
