I have a 5th/6th grade book club and we just read "Jackie's Wild Seattle" by Will Hobbs for our adventure genre pick. The main character in that book is a girl, although there are other boy characters. It was a big hit with my book club!
Some others we've read this year that went over well: Fantasy--"The Scarecrow and His Servant" by Philip Pullman Historical Fiction--"The True Confessions of Charlottle Doyle" by Avi Books in Verse/Alternative Formats--"Love that Dog" by Sharon Creech

Hi,
We are having a book club for 4th/5th grade students this summer. I want to have a choice of 2 books for each meeting. Kids will have a choice to read both books or just one. I'd like the books to be of same genre so that there can be discussion about them.
One book we want to use is Everest by Korman. Any suggestions for a second book. Everest has both girl and boy characters but the main character is a boy. I'd like a book that has a girl main character.
I also need to pick 2 books of another genre for the second book club meeting. I'd appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks, Trisha
