The View From Saturday is a great book for both boys & girls, multicultural experiences & dealing with disabilities from a personal perspective. E L Koningsburg is great for that age group.  Or, the newer Plain Kate  [a tale of magic, somewhat bleak, but beautifully written] & The Search for WondLa [a great Sci Fi & Fantasy] are both excellent.

Hi,

I like The View from Saturday and From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg for this age group.

Good Luck!

Hi,

We are having a book club for 4th/5th grade students this summer. I want to have a
choice of 2 books for each meeting. Kids will have a choice to read both books or
just one. I'd like the books to be of same genre so that there can be discussion
about them.

One book we want to use is Everest by Korman. Any suggestions for a second book.
Everest has both girl and boy characters but the main character is a boy. I'd like a
book that has a girl main character.

I also need to pick 2 books of another genre for the second book club meeting. I'd
appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks,
Trisha
