I Love My Librarian Award
Nominations for the 2011 Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award opened at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans. The award invites library users nationwide to recognize the accomplishments of librarians in public, school, college, community college and university libraries for their efforts to improve the lives of people in their communities. Up to 10 winners receive a $5,000 cash award and are honored at an award ceremony at the New York Times.
This year‘s award will also tie into the 100th anniversary of the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

SYNC giving away 2 free audio downloads for teens each week:
What is SYNC?
SYNC is an online community that seeks to build the audience for audiobooks among readers 13 and up.
• Each week from June 23, 2011 until August 17, 2011, SYNC will give away 2 FREE downloads--a popular Young Adult title paired with a Classic title that appears on Summer Reading lists.
• SYNC is hosted by Audiobook Community, a new social networking site for the discovery of audiobooks.
• Listeners can choose to join a conversation about these titles with authors, narrators, publishers, librarians, and other listeners. (Listeners are not required to join Audiobook Community to follow the conversation on SYNC nor to download FREE titles from SYNC.)

*Checking out our planning resources! Take a look at our activity ideas and professional materials to start planning your celebration, and use our publicity tools to get the word out to teens in your community.
*Applying for funding! YALSA, through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, will give out 10 $1,000 mini grants to support Teen Read Week programs. Applications are due (today) July 1.
*Reading our FAQ! Of course you have questions about Teen Read Week. We've got answers.
*Downloading the Teens' Top Ten nominations. Have your teens read the 25 books up for this year's list before voting this August and September. We'll announce the winners during Teen Read Week.
