FYI,
I received this information on behalf of the author of Growing Up Global…
It looks like it could be useful for your summer reading programs.
Best,
Sharon Rawlins, Youth Services Consultant, NJ State Library
Greetings!
I am so happy to share the free activity resource guide to accompany the One World, Many Stories summer reading theme. These links are packed with ideas for exploring one country per week or hopping around continents. Many recommendations come from Homa Tavangar's book Growing Up Global: Raising Children to Be At Home in the World, and reflect a sampling of my favorite tips anyone can tap into.
I hope you'll share with your colleagues and patrons any of the following (included with links that go directly to the tool):
The Pictorial guide to One World Many Stories activities and readings, here.
The TEXT version (easy to print out and share as a hard copy), here.
The BOOKMARK featuring "library girl" and website link, here.
Please consider sharing the LINK to these resources on your homepage: http://growingupglobal.net/page.php?id=22 .
Additionally, if your library doesn't already carry Growing Up Global, I hope you'll consider stocking it as a great, low-cost resource book for families and educators. It's Kindle's #1 rated book in the Globalization category and has been widely praised in the media and among readers.
One of my heroes, Dr. Jane Goodall said "'Growing up Global' offers fascinating ideas for giving young people opportunities to become truly global citizens. Learning about the customs and culture of others around the globe enriches our lives so much and can only lead to better understanding and cooperation for generations to come." I hope you'll agree with Dr. Jane!
Thank you for considering sharing this resource and please contact us with any questions, comments or new recommendations!
